Introduction to Data Science (IDS) Curriculum teaches students to reason with, and think critically about, data in all forms. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for High School Statistics and Probability relevant to data science are taught along with the data demands of good citizenship in the 21st century. Jo Boaler recently wrote a very pointed criticism of Prof. Wayne Bishop and me, . It referred to a paper jointly authored by Wayne Bishop, Paul Clopton, and me, [BCM] , that she seemed to be unaware had been accepted for publication in the peer reviewed education journal, Education Next, on 3/22/2006, and so she claimed it "has never been peer reviewed." Boaler notes that mindset plays a key role in learning, and those afraid of making a mistake don’t benefit from one of the most productive ways of learning, which is making a mistake. In this podcast, she also details how timed tests actually inhibit the brain from working, and that even adults use (virtual) finger in mathematics, which plays out positively for musicians.

Jo Boaler claims that College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) had significantly improved students’ math performance in her Railside Report. CPM is currently in use at the San Francisco Unified School District, where Boaler practices her beliefs in detracking, mixed ability teaching, group work, banning algebra in middle schools, and formative assessments.

10 hours ago I'm also very worried about how antiquated the maths is in school. I got involved in co-leading a data science initiative because we're seeing a

Jo Boaler’s example of a multi-dimensional classroom had about 15 students. How much participation is feasible in a classroom of 30-35 students?
